Unparalleled Safety Features
Safety system questions are at
or near the top of any electrical or computer controlled mobile
system evaluation chart. The LOGICPlus™ controller provides
the most comprehensive array of safety alternatives ever offered.
Historically unreliable and repair intensive approaches such as
activated flooring, mechanical plungers and mechanical sweeps have
been replaced with complete interface to all leading safety tape and
photo sweep systems. The LOGICPlus™ controller is designed to
interface with today’s most advanced PIR infrared systems and
digital photographic aisle monitoring systems.

In addition to the safety system
alternatives discussed above, every LOGICPlus™ controller
features two more “designed in” safety systems. First is the Passive
Block System (PBS), which is activated after carriage movement with
no requirement for actions by system users. Following completion of
the aisle opening, the system will remain immobile until the PBS is
deactivated. Deactivation requires the next storage system
user to remove the system block by pressing the previously activated
controller keypad identified by an indicator light. PBS is
preferred in mobile systems being used by the general public or in
any system where any user training is not feasible. The second
“designed in” safety feature is the Motor Current Monitoring System
(MCMS). Every LOGICPlus™ controller contains logic to actually
monitor the current being utilized by the motor and detect even a
minute change. This change in current drawn may be caused by even
slight pressure against a moving carriage or additional weight
placed on a moving carriage. When a change in current being
drawn is detected by the MCMS, an
Emergency Stop command is issued by the LOGICPlus™
controller and carriage movement ceases.

The LOGICPlus™ system
design will allow it to be fully compatible with future safety
systems as developed by LOGICPlus™ or others. As a result
owners of mobile systems utilizing the LOGICPlus™ controller will
never have to sacrifice enhanced user safety to avoid system
obsolescence or total system replacement.
System Security
As the use of mobile aisle
systems for storing valuable, sensitive, or private documents and
materials has increased, so have the concerns about system security.
Two commonly employed security approaches have been carriage keys,
which are subject to duplication, or punch in pass codes that can be
passed from one person to another. As a result, users have had
to settle for unsatisfactory system security and in many cases even
forego the benefits of mobile storage systems due to security
considerations.. Again the innovative design of the
LOGICPlus™
controller has made the security
problems of the past, just that, problems of the past. By
using the
One Touch function adjustment
transponder, access to the system can be limited by aisle and by
user. The individually identifiable transponder cannot be
copied or passed to an unauthorized user. The system security
privileges can be revoked or modified due to employee change,
reassignment, or system reconfiguration by simply changing the
computer security authorization spreadsheet and downloading the new
security privileges to the appropriate One Touch
transponders. The LOGICPlus™
controller means no system downtime
for security modifications, no costly refitting, no compromised
security.

System Reliability and Durability
Early electrical and computer controlled mobile storage
systems were forced to employ mechanical devices in their control
panels, stopping distance control mechanisms and safety systems.
Surprisingly most mobile system manufacturers continue to utilize
these inexpensive but unreliable moving part based mechanisms.
As a result system users are constantly confronted with costly
repairs and replacements often preceeded by a time and
resource-consuming search for a supplier of a now out of production
part. As stated earlier, a design requirement for
the LOGICPlus™ controller was
a level of system durability not seen before. The controller
employs analog distance sensors that control carriage spacing and
allow for no-shock stopping with no moving parts. The Big
Button touch panel employs no mechanical or moving parts, and the
use of a 24V DC carriage motor allows for non-jerk starting and
stopping to dramatically reduce motor wear. |
